Instead of spending New Years Eve with family and friends, Linda and I were in a beautiful castle in Wales filming Baz and Bianc's wedding celebrations.
We'd driven 200 miles across to Wales, stayed overnight in a hotel, filmed in a beautiful country church and then on to film in a castle, surrounded by warriors of the past and of the present.
The warriors of the past were represented by the many paintings and suits of armour and the warriors of the present were represented by a dozen or so Royal Marine captains that made up the guard of honour and of course, the groom himself.
With one day to go, severe weather warnings were given for the whole country and Wales in particular, so we loaded up the 4X4 with 50 feet of heavy duty nylon tow rope, one shovel, one blanket and enough flasks of hot water to bathe in and off we set.
Apart from the swollen river that my sat nav told me to cross we arrived at the church in pleanty of time to attend the rehearsal, much to the delight of the Marilyn, the bride's mother, who didn't expect us to make it and after a good nights sleep, we set off nice and early to a little country pub for lunch.
The service went without a hitch, including the Harry Potter owl that swooped over Linda's head and down the aisle to deliver the wedding rings.
Then on to the castle for the reception and wedding breakfast and a rare test for our cameras as there was no lighting in the grand hall apart from one or two table lamps and around 100 candles. though we both carry video lights, my wife and I shot without them in order to keep in with the atmosphere.
We left Eastnor Castle at 9 pm and as our own wedding anniversary is New Years Day, we spent the midnight hour watching fireworks exploding over the motorway.
The funny thing was, we loaded up the car with emergency gear, drove over 400 miles and drove into a whiteout at Stowemarket, barely 10 miles from home, so we arrived back to our house in a blissard at 12.30am.
With the groom in full dress military uniform, complete with ceremonial sword, Baz was every bride's dream partner and in a handmade wedding dress, which words cannot do justice to, Bianca was an absolute stunning bride, fit for a truly fairytale wedding.
We'll certainly remember this years anniversary and as a side note, it's just come to our attention that the castle has picked up our video clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC87dzuKGU0 of the wedding and embedded it on their website, http://www.eastnorcastle.com/blog/ so who knows, we might get to go back again and this time hopefully in summer.
Whilst filming a wedding at Hintlesham Hall recently we captured on video the bride saying to her groom "I can't believe it was all over so quickly!" and his priceless answer, "That's why we've had it all videoed, darling!"
If only we could get this message to all the bride and grooms we meet at wedding fayres that say at first that they don't want a wedding Dvd and then call us later in the year to say that they wish they'd had it filmed and now ask if we can do anything with their nephews video, which of course we can't.
Why?.... Because as professionals, we know how to take those all important shots and the emphasis is on "how" to take the shots, holding the camera steady and for long enough is the first thing and not to "hose pipe" with the camera as if you're watering the lawn. Not to "trombone" where the camera zooms in and out because the operator can't make up their minds what to film.
Add to this that our cameras cost thousands of pounds each and not two or three hundred from Tescos plus professional editing suites, means your finished professional wedding Dvd looks just that, professional.
When you watch your wedding video over and over again, each time you see little things that we've captured in the background and it's a new experience for you and your friends every time.
So, ............will you remember????

From the moment that Rob and his bestman Latif arrived in Rob's Lotus Carrera 4, we knew that this day had the making of a memorable wedding Dvd and this fact was brought home to us when we filmed Zuzana and her bridesmaids putting the final touches to their makeup and hair and putting on their wedding dresses.
The international flavour of the wedding was immediately apparent and with guests from as far afield as Australia and Japan and of course Rob's relatives from Scotland, complete with kilts, the wedding DVD was bound to be a winner.
The evening was started with fireworks and then Rob and Zuzana treated us all to an entertaining and polished 1st dance and it just leaves us to say congratulations to the happy couple.

The fayre was packed with exhibitors, including a pilot and helicopter and the couples were amazed at the services on offer.
